Do You Want To See?

Some who find the esoteric content here worth reading have already seen David Lynch's extraordinary film Inland Empire. Note the first quote of Lynch at these less than trivial remarks.

The following harmless clips run less than two minutes a piece and come from different angles. They just barely dip the tip of the toe in the water to for a brief whiff of the pie momma's cooked while you're playing in the back yard.

Now quit playing around and go have some pie.

ALONE.

Do you want to see?

It was a remarkable film.

Your post about the wedding, by the way, said a lot.

A LOT.

It was not about Giffords at all.

Remarkable, my ass.

Just seeing those bunny heads again brought back the feelings.

For normal people, the movie is nothing but confusion. It starts confusing as hell, then it gets more confusing. Then you are confused about what you are confused about.

All right. I'm sold.

I'm going to watch it this weekend. How one creates a movie without a script is beyond me. How do the actors know what to say or do?

Clearly, this is going to be different.

Navigator,

I suspect I know what you refer to, and if correct then it's not accurate to say the post wasn't about Giffords at all, but rather to say it was only about Giffords at the most obvious level ... at another level, it's not about Giffords, although she may have some small role in the "fix".

Sirocco,
not sure what u c. search sed on last 2 words of Gwed post (FI) based on Nav & last hit has:

Unlike these individuals, you have the wisdom to know that we are all works in progress. As this last campaign has no doubt shown, to serve as you are committed to serving will require growth and development. Witnessing your growth from afar these last eight months has been inspiring, and consider that you are just getting started. Given what I think is possible for you, I have a request. Should the occasion arise where the growth necessary to achieve your aim uncovers an area to improve, a skill to be strengthened, a flaw to resolve, and we all have ours, please don't react as our President has reacted. You are a better human being than that, and part of a nobler, bigger mission. I haven't a clue what might show up that impairs your serving as you are committed to serving, but if something does, FIX IT.

Yeah, that was from "Godspeed, Congresswoman, Giffords" posted by X4mr one year ago.

Much like the Mideast scholars who were given time with the "staff," I think that X4mr barks up the wrong tree. The scholars might get a pre-written multipurpose letter that gently explains why they are wrong and AIPAC is right.

X4mr will just keep waiting for some breakthrough that justifies all of his praise and encouragement.

I dated a guy like that once. It was on New Year's Eve, the same year that I got divorced from my first husband. This guy just couldn't stop talking about his recent, former girlfriend. She was so just so beautiful, so intelligent, so blah blah blah. When she walked into a room, every head would turn blah blah blah. Then, most obnoxious of all, he went on and on about how she was destined for greatness. He couldn't give you a clue about what general area she would be great in - science, politics, entertainment, etc...

We never had a second date, but became good friends. He remarried a couple of years later and his wife said he was still going on about that girl. She was still working for the city, last I heard.

Liza,
You are not sufficiently grasping the layered nature of the content of this blog. In case you haven’t noticed, x4mr is wicked smart and not just book smart. As I noted about Something Else and it applies to the entire blog, he works with symbols and semantics. It is blogger poetry.

You interpret material about Giffords on the surface, thinking he’s a smitten puppy dog going on and on about how wonderful she is. That is not what is occurring at all. Read the Godspeed post, and you will see that he refers to flaws. He says it nice, but he states she has flaws without specifying what they are, and tells her to “fix” them. A puppy dog would not write such material.

As noted repeatedly, Giffords was born rich. Her parents are multi-millionaires. She graduated debt free from prestigious schools. X4mr somewhere notes that he primarily put himself through college, graduating in debt. He denies resentment but only partially. The resentment is there, "Please give me that problem."

He wonders what he would have done given such a launch into life. Quality of character and its growth and development are one leg of the tripod on which the blog rests, the last word of its title. Does Giffords have quality of character, or is she just another rich brat that gets to have everything? He does not know, but he voices optimism because he sees "growth." What growth has he seen? I do not know, but based on Godspeed he saw it during the campaign.

X4mr is frustrated and not frustrated at the same time. They keep blowing his ship out of the harbor. He admires Abraham Lincoln and those who started poor. Giffords will NEVER occupy the top tier of his admiration hierarchy. Only those who start near zero can get there. I say frustrated, because he does his part to earn rewards, but then the rewards are denied. I say not frustrated, because the incredibly rich set of experiences in many different boats is in itself deeply rewarding, and he said, "Growth," not "Success." While not rich, I doubt he is poor. If you consider all that this guy has done, it is staggering. Engineer. Teacher. Finance. Course leader. Mathematics. CEO. Now a statistician in higher education. The guy has produced two movies, and the esoteric material is not bullshit.

George W. Bush is the distillation of everything x4mr cannot stand, a person born with everything yet so stupid and arrogant that he takes credit for stature he did not and could never earn. In fact, I would assert x4mr hates Bush as much as he allows himself to hate anyone, for he has the spiritual development to choose in such matters. To x4mr, Bush does not even warrant the stature of a person, a vegetable, an Eggplant. While evil and malignant, Cheney is a person, just a bad one.

In all likelihood, Giffords is not so great as you seem to think x4mr asserts (and I don’t think he has said as much as you seem to) and better than your negative view. Personally, I think the woman does want to make the world better, and I do agree that she and her staff work hard to do it. That puts her far ahead of most of the self-serving jack asses in Washington.

Navigator,
Nice post, and this might surprise you, there’s not much there that I didn’t already know.

I do not read this blog for the "layers" or the "poetry." I do not know what in the blazes you people are talking about some of the time. And, it is highly unlikely that I would enjoy "Inland Empire" much less begin to understand it.

However, I'm almost eight years into the reign of Bush/Cheney, just like everyone else, and I've done it without medication. That is why I read this blog.
