Tucson, Arizona. On March 16th I emailed a letter to the Tucson Mayor and Council, copying the county and a few others, and posted it at this blog. As of last night, the thread at the post had 29 comments, and comment #29, which I dismissed as coming from a bottle of scotch (the post occurred at 12:40 AM) apparently has substance behind it.

I received an email today confirming that Comment #29 is not fiction. To spare the reader the effort of paging down (or clicking above), here is the comment:

At this juncture, there are 3 retired private investigators, working on a pro-bono basis, tracking the daily work of the Executive staff of five City of Tucson Org's. MCTVB, TCC, Rio Nuevo, and Ward 6. This is prologue. Chapter One is to follow. The truth may yet prevail in the Valley, just not via TNI, who have violated all protocol of journalism by having their editors sit on local boards. William Buckley and Mary McGrory together, would be on their hind legs and snarling.

The part that sticks out for me is: This is prologue. Chapter One is to follow.

Interesting, indeed. The truth is out there.

He said five agencies but only listed four. Since the thread was about TREO, I imagine the assumption is that the four are in addition to TREO.

Listing City Ward 6 is also compelling. I am VERY curious who sent you that email.

Count me as another of the "let's go buy our popcorn now because this is probably going to be one HECKUVA show" lurkers !

I check in every couple of days just to see what's happening here -- it's like one of the old time serial novels. . . except this one is REAL !

William Buckley and Mary McGrory for those who may not be so informed.

"The Club" is most clever making the press part of it. TREO can rape and pillage other agencies at will!

Some bloggers remember a year ago at this time, when x4mr was duking it out with rats. Remember his post where he wrote, "An assassin is on a mission to take me out, and tomorrow he will (according to everyone) take his shot."

The next day was the infamous board meeting. Then it took him a month to get the cementheads.

It's so real. I've been glued ever since.

Wow. This is fascinating. I didn't discover this blog until the publication of "Something Else" which I think is brilliant.

TREO's arrogant antics may have indeed turned over a rock that uncovers many roaches and locusts.

I love it.

I wish I had known about the place during the spring. I'll bet that was quite a treat for Sirocco and Liza and those following the events at the time.

Best of luck to the people behind comment #29. If TNI tries to squash what they find, I think they might have other means of making the truth known.

Cigar Man, have you heard fallout from this blog's role in taking down Rick Myers' candidacy at TUSD? Has there been a major wringing of hands over at 4400 East Broadway?

If we accept that Comment #29 is a fact, then three investigators are in action. For whom? Who is the captain spearheading the effort?

Pro-bono or not, the bus has a driver. Can you share anything else from the email you received? What is the motivation? You know as much as I about retired goons with nothing better to do, but comment #29 does not like sound one of those.

Anon above, what I heard is that this blog merely served as a "message board" that an organized effort used to post comments.

If I am correct, they also sent emails, made phone calls and other efforts. The blog was only one of many tools, not the main force.

What x4mr did that tipped the scale (so we hear) was copy the entire thread of comments into a new main story and send a link to that story to the TUSD board.

I have a question for x4mr. You now have a 30 comment thread sitting under a letter to local elected officials.

You know my question.

One third of the work force works the 3-11pm shift; as I do, at your local missile making company. 12:40am is our time for supper, not scotch. God Bless you day workers, and your love of traffic.

No disrespect intended.

Is Cigar Man correct in speculating the fifth agency is TREO?

SAIAT did a lot of work for Raytheon. Did you ever take a class at the SAIAT facility?

From a Cigar Man comment on 3-10 regarding the TREO annual report: "...the numbers they take credit for are just what happens in town. If a company hires someone, expands into new space, builds a building, they count those numbers. That's why x4mr's post about the certification program is so hilarious. They do take credit for stuff they had absolutely nothing to do with. If x4mr starts his dry cleaning business, TREO will take credit for both the jobs and the capital investment."

This is why agencies like TREO continue to be funded and escape scrutiny, at least until they f*** with the wrong marine.

They produce an annual report on glossy paper with words and numbers and pictures and it is an outright lie. The actual production of the annual report probably accounts for most of what they do other than attend meetings and take trips.

The mayor and the city council need to take a long, hard look at what the mission of this agency is. Next, they need to develop metrics that are based on reality. Otherwise, TREO gets a free pass when all they are is a little group of people who are on the dole. It just happens to pay a lot better than public assistance, but that is all that it is.

What about TREO's first year? Did it show a big "profit" of revenues over expenses? Was it in the business of passing county and city funds through to other agencies then?

Did they de-fund other existing agencies, as they did this last year?

I think I remember hearing that MAC, the Microbusiness Advancement Center, got some funding pulled by TREO, but they managed to carry on. Is this true? If so, did TREO demonstrate that it was supporting MAC's mission in other ways with that funding?

This blog must be providing a stimulus to greater oversight of TREO among the government members of The Club--at least I hope so--but perhaps it's time to demonstrate that this behavior of TREO's relative to Goodwill and SAIAT was not an aberration or something that can be explained away by their apologists as a one-time "correction".

If it's a pattern of behavior, the case will be that much stronger and it will be that much more difficult for TREO to explain its misdeeds.

I heard TREO is doing a report on their progress on the Power of Five blueprint, next week Thursday at La Paloma or Ventana Canyon. What say the bloggers show up and ask some uncomfortable questions?

That ought to be fun. At least TREO could claim legitimate credit for providing employment opportunities for Tucson-area security guards.

I work at the local missile factory and I attended a handful of training sessions at SAIAT. What I miss the most, was that little coffee cart they had in the back. They had the best coffee! I'm still searching for a comparable cup of joe.

Question for Robish. Is the TREO meeting a public one? If so it would be great to go and ask the real questions that we all want to know, and watch them squirm.

I went to the TREO website and didn't see anything about the meeting next week. Sounds like an invite-only, for fellow spinmeisters.

I'll bet Cigar Man and some of our other fellow bloggers here got invites. Somehow I don't expect there will be a Q&A segment on the meeting agenda.

No offense intended to Cigar Man or anyone else here who gets an invite. You are anything but spinmeisters. I am grateful that despite your status as being officially part of the in-the-know crowd, you have chosen to be part of this growing on-line community, sharing your insights into the corrupt little system we have here in the Old Pueblo.

I am sorry to disappoint Thelma, but the trinity of retired investigators have no Captain, nor bus driver, and their is no spearheading. It is the result of simple human concupiscence, and a chance meeting of the minds. All have been in Tucson for over 50 years. One was internal affairs in the Air Force, another with a background in Forensic Psychiatry,(she is the funniest),as she suggests that the City and County hire an "Urban Psychiatrist" who can delve deep into the psyches of those who are incapable of finishing anything--which pretty much defines Tucson,Arizona. The other dude worked for the Feds, and knows bureaucratic behavior like his mother. Also quite funny. No one has an axe to grind. None of them were fired from anything. All had stellar careers. They simply love Tucson, and wonder why we are so polarized and paralyzed. This is not the case in all urban enviroments. There is a purging underway here in our town, and this Blog, which is one of the most high I,Q. and elevated consciousnous dialogues that I have witnessed in 5 years, appears to furthering some of the delinquent remedial action that is our City needs. This a very refreshing place to stop for coffee, for the thinking person. Especially those who like to FINISH things!

"Real Estate Brokers initiate and promote more new business in Tucson than all the platoons of Economic Development personel combined." Aptly said, by the late Roy Drachman.
Economic Development is a lot like Theology,as it is based on Faith,Hope, and Charity.
