Tim Bee to Announce on Saturday

Tucson, Arizona. The Green Valley News published a piece last night stating that Tim Bee is making the announcement this coming Saturday. As it says in the article, Bee will address supporters at the library of Palo Verde High School at 10 AM this Saturday. FEC reports coming soon. I wonder how those limited edition Bee pins worked in raising funds. Update 8 PM: Daniel Scarpinato released an online piece this afternoon quoting Bee campaign manager Meg Econ that Bee has raised "well over $300,000" confirming what I have speculated. Bee will have money.

Bee will try to unseat freshman Democrat Gabrielle Giffords in Congressional District Eight. Bee had better be prepared on Saturday. Roger Kralmajales might attend and ask him what that 1990 diploma from the University of Arizona was in.

Damn straight! Or if he has one. His website has changed and no longer lists education or diploma at all.

So its not misleading now...

Back to more interesting things, apparently...I am sorry but I find educational background to be important. I find being misleading about it when you are applying for a job to be blatantly unethical. The fact that various websites say "diploma" from U. of A. while others say "attended U. of A." raises questions with me, thats all. It did for George O'Leary.

Will he be staying in the Senate or resigning Matt? Any news or any bets?

Next, as to money, all excuses from the last time aside, will he have $500,000 raised total?

He is not resigning.

Wow...does that bother you? I mean, I remember a post of yours awhile back that basically argued strongly that I was wrong about him having to resign last October, but that the law was plainly clear that he must resign as soon as he announces...by law.

I may have misread you, though.

Next. As an aside, his strategy is a great great great risk. We are in a budget crisis and he will be running the state and the negotiations for this budget...while running a most difficult race for Congress. The bet is that he must be able to broker a compromise and come out as the savior of our schools and health system (e.g. take on Pearce and the gang) and boost his candidacy.

The second gamble and gambit is that he can't credit claim if he leaves office. If he leaves office, he is left with being blamed for the debt and leaving us in a spot. Last, he becomes irrelevant and out of the news as Gov and Legislature fight it out.

Tsk Tsk Tsk...

Roger, he doesn't have to resign now that the session has started. He is in the last year of his term and thus not in violation of the resign-to-run law.

He gets to keep his bully pulpit as Senate prez, and you know he will use it. He will manage to screw up big time I suspect.

He also hands Gabby an easy point of attack... she immediately resigned when she chose to run. She can make him look power hungry.

I went to Palo Verde too (his dad was my print shop teacher) Though I wasn't valedictorian (far from it in fact), does being a Titan make me automatically qualified to be a Congressman. Heck, I even have an ACTUAL diploma from the U, so maybe I am OVER-qualified....

Thank you AZW88 for clarifying the law that Bee broke. It does look like all that time of raising funds with NOT running, speaking so quietly and carefully about "exploratory...not CANDIDATE", is the same kind of legalese BULLSHIT that the GOP decries over and over again.

As you say very well, all of that legalistic deception so that he can continue to be Senate Pres and run too!!! How nice!!! I love having everything I want too!

Last, on the subject of the degree or not, I have pointed out what looks like discrepancies and real questions. This should be easy stuff...especially for some who read this blog and are working for his campaign.

Its a fair question...there are discrepancies and a whole lot of silence in every bio I read of him about his education.

What makes one qualified to be a congressperson is stuff like tire sales and property management. Another high one on the list is counting and investing your daddy's money.

My niece works for her father, who is one of largest RV distributors in the southeast. I suspect she will run for Congress when I tell her that she has unknowingly prepared herself. RV sales should be right up there (ahead of tires, I would think), and from what I understand she is very good at it.

Hey Liza...

A degree from Scripps and a Masters in Planning from Cornell is what I would call a serious amount of education for office.

Roger, it truly doesn't matter.

Roger, education, degrees, diplomas and the lot mean little to the AZ legislature. Just look at how the treat K-12 and Higher Ed.

As for Liza: Yes, she comes from a family with money, but that money was earned honestly.

You sound like Lori Oien and family and friends with their ad hominem attacks on Glassman, labeling him a 'trust find baby'.

Sirocco could say far better than me regarding sheer cerebral horsepower, but I know she is extremely well read, and that does make a difference. I smoke cigars with a man who never got a degree, but he's been an avid reader of quality books for over 30 years and knows more than most college graduates.

I don't know Bee at all, but people tell me he's bright, although rather soft spoken. I've not heard him address a large crowd. I consider this and LD 26 among the more interesting local races.

You missed the point, Roger, and AW88, you missed it by ten miles. I don't give a fat rat's ass about the Giffords family fortune or how it was obtained.

What did she do with her education? She sold tires and she managed property.

We need brilliant constitutional lawyers in Congress. Not educated tire salesmen.

You people are so blinded by your unexplainable infatuations that you make me wonder about your own "cerebral horsepower."

Liza,
I don't know if there are any constitutional lawyers in Congress, let alone brilliant ones.

Jeff Latas flies jets. You thought he was okay. We require a Democrat who can defeat the Republican in CD-8. Are you clear how difficult that is? Like LD-26, the Democrat has to be extraordinary or lucky.

In LD-26 in 2006, Pesquira and Saradnik got lucky as did Giffords. The GOP nominated kooks or semi-kooks and the GOP CD-8 in 2006 was complete meltdown. That luxury is over.

I only know one Democrat in pink CD-8 that can wrestle with the AZ Senate President and have a shot at winning. Bee has positioned himself well.

That's not infatuation. That's politics. I want a bright blue Congress in 2009, so bright you have to wear shades.

Thinkright,

It matters to me that it has been hidden...and even to some extent made misleading...meaning education.

As for having the money, $300k versus $1.2 million + whatever was raised since September?

Yes, he will have money, but enough to take on this political machine?

How will he campaign effectively when strangled with the legislative session and driving back and forth from dinner to dinner...while our state faces a massive financial crisis?

"I don't know if there are any constitutional lawyers in Congress, let alone brilliant ones."

Why aren't they there? Think about it.

As for Latas - a good soldier does not waste the life of another.

"That's politics." Well, politics sucks now doesn't it? The country is rotting from the inside.

Don't respond. This subject has become very, very boring and very, very irrelevant.

Liza,

"a good soldier does not waste the life of another"

I could cite numerous counter examples. Serving in the armed forces does not automatically make one intelligent or wise (or moral), not even in the field of warfare. It does make one more knowledgeable about that, admittedly important, field, however.

This s should be a competitive race, more so since neither will have to invest time and energy in a primary.

Alright, Sirocco, let's not get into Gettysburg and the rest of it. It was a philosophical statement directed at X4mr, whether he understood it or not I will never know. My "layers" are not quite as good as his.

Congress is a stage four bowel cancer that penetrated it's wall a long time ago. Quite frankly, I think it's too late, and I choose not to be a cheerleader for metastasis.

Perhaps now you understand the depth of my discontent.

Since Latas has come up in this conversation, I feel his record should be clear on his education and experience level.

As a supporter and friend of both Latases, I will say that Jeff not only flys jets, he also sold and changed tires.

I think he would agree that the leadership he built over the skys of the Middle East, leading large formations of fighters, is much more applicable to law making then saling tires. He also is an engineer and has a masters in Public Administration.
